Sue-Yen Bylund (nee Luiten) was born in Saigon in 1974 and adopted to Western Australia at the age of 3 weeks. From the age of 17 years old, Sue has been an active spokesperson in the intercountry adoption community, providing insight into her own personal experience and connecting to her fellow adoptees, service providers and governments. She continues to search for answers in Viet Nam about her own origins and therefore implicitly understands the complexity of a family search and reunion across international borders.
Sue and My Huong have been working together to assist adoptees privately for the past 17 years. Creating and making this service available for all Vietnamese adoptees and their families has been a long term passion and goal for Sue.
Sue has worked with Australian State and Federal Governments to create and facilitate opportunities for intercountry adoptee support services over the past 27 years. Viet Nam Family Search is the fulfilment of her lifelong commitment to the intercountry adoption community, demonstrating her perseverance to improve the support required for adoptees and their families.
